"Heat, A History" with Dr. On Barak

Dr. On Barak (Tel Aviv University) is a social and cultural historian of science and technology in non-Western settings. His work has focused on the history and current politics of the climate crisis in the Middle East and the Global South. Dr. Barak will give a talk on his new book, Heat, A History: Lessons From the Middle East for a Warming Planet (UC Press, 2025), which examines the human-scale history of the causes and consequences of rising temperatures in the Middle East.
