"Heat, A History" with Dr. On Barak

Dr. On Barak (Tel Aviv University) is a social and cultural historian of science and technology in non-Western settings. In recent years his work has focused on the history and current politics of the climate crisis in the Middle East and the Global South. Dr. Barak will give a talk on his new book, Heat, A History: Lessons From the Middle East for a Warming Planet (UC Press, 2025), which examines the human-scale history of the causes and consequences of rising temperatures in the Middle East.
